Wyche Road

80 Wyche Road is situated on one of the most prominent parts of the Malvern Hills, with almost panoramic views to the north, east and west. The original building, probably built around the late 1900s on the west slope, had been extended with single-storey elements on the top of the hill.

Wanting to redevelop and take advantage of the site and views, the owners appointed Nick Joyce Architects to assist them in achieving their vision.

Within a strict budget the scheme was developed to increase the building footprint on the top of the hill and reorganise existing spaces to create a three-bedroom family home; using a blend of traditional and modern materials and forms to harmonise with the surroundings and respect the area of outstanding natural beauty.

Acting as project manager the owner oversaw the works on site, using drawings and specification provided by Nick Joyce Architects, and the building achieved a Civic Society Building Award in 2012 and the contractor also won a best build award.
